Vitamin E while on Accutane….How much anyone?

Dear All,
Have read many times that taking Vitamin E is a good idea, as it not only helps with dryness/brittle hair etc, but can also help alleviate/reduce the risk of other more serious Accutane side effects.
Do you all agree with this? Also what’s a good amount to be taking per day?
I already take Folic Acid, Vitamin B6 and B12 for a blood condition, along with the Roaccutane – I’m sure I rattle when I walk!
Any advice much appreciated.
Emma xx.

  1. I don’t know the actual amount that you should be taking while on accutane but when I was on it I only took 400mg I believe. I’m trying to remember exactly how much but I’m pretty sure that’s how much my doctor reccommended and I actually found that it did work to heal and not dry my skin out a lot better than when i didn’t take any vitamins. Someone here should know the safest amount tho…..I do know that you can take too much Vitamin E while on accutane so make sure that if you don’t find out from someone on here you ask your derm or doctor cuz I wouldn’t want you to overdose 😕 ! Good luck with the ‘tane!

I assume you meant 400 UI and not 400 mg because 400 mg it’s a huge amount.

200 UI is safe, 400 UI is safe too but don’t run it at this dose long term while on the tane.

  3. Haha ya I did mean IU see I’m not very good at the whole recommending dose thing…..maybe don’t listen to me anymore guys! LOL! I was on 200IU for like one month while on tane and 400IU for one month and they seemed to do the same trick so sticking to 200 probably is a smarter idea if it does the same to your body anyways.

  4. I took 400 IU all throughout my course of Accutane and I’m sure it helped with the dryness. Also, my Derm has told me to continue taking the same amount as part of a good skincare regime anyway.

  5. The daily limit for vitamin E is 1000IU, so i take 400IU twice a day, just in case. Of course, I will drop it down as I see improvement, and it really is a good idea to make sure you have vit E in your diet all the time for good skin ^^

  6. I dont know about the Vitamin E thing. Both times when I attempted taking Vitamin E on and off Accutane I broke out horribly. But now all is well once I stopped takign them 🙂
