Can shaving be causing my breakouts???

I’m a 24 year old male and I struggled with acne in the past and now it comes and goes. I currently use proactiv and it makes my skin feel really soft and healthy. I still get stubburn breakouts along my jaw line, chin, and around my mouth. I don’t have any body acne and I dont think i’ve had a zit on my forehead, nose, or upper cheek areas in years. It seems I only breakout where I shave my face. Is there a possiblity that my shaving can be causing my breakouts? Most of them are not your traditional pimples either. the ones i get are large, they hurt, and last for at least a week and even when it goes away you can always tell where it was for several weeks. Do any of you males have this problem?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  1. I’ve found that it can cause some bumps, clogged pores, and small pimples. I’m not sure if it can cause the deeper pustules and cysts, though.

  2. I get cysts along the jawline, too, and I don’t think shaving is causing them. Lots of men get these.
