cider vinegar

Does apple cider vinegar used topically actually help with acne or just for normal skin? And will taking it internally damage your stomach because it’s tooo acidic?! Thanks.

  1. Vinegar contains acetic acid which helps to exfoliate the skin and diminish red marks, but only for a short amout of time- smells bad, too! I would suggest going with a stronger agent such as glycolic or lactic acid peeels since vinegar contains on the average only 4-6% acetic acid. You can buy other more effective peels (from 30-70%) online, although if you prefer the natural approach, apple cider vinegar mixed into a mask with clay (Aztec Secret) makes a pore tightening mask. I have mild/moderate acne and the cider vinegar just wasn’t strong enough to make much of a difference.

I think that there are a lot of posts on this board about better acid type exfoliators and where to buy them.

Taken internally, I don’t know if it would help acne, but there are a lot of herbal remedy books that have recipies for making internal tonics and what the safe dose would be- I just couldn’t ever get past the taste though- ick!
