Black heads, un even skin tone

Merry Christmas all!

I’m brand new to this site. very good information here!

I am 32 years old. My skin is not great. Childhood acne, too manyharsh products, did not care for my skin like I should etc. etc.

It is combo skin, leaning towards the oily side. My biggest problem nowis black heads. All over my face. I have just switched recently from Alpha Hydroxy face wash to Cetaphil for normal to oily skin. I use a product from Essna as a toner. It is all natural and has built in moisture.

I do not wear makeup at all anymore.

How do I get rid of the black heads, and even out my skin tone?

Any suggestions?

  1. I have a very bad blackhead problem too, most of them on my nose. Mine are very deep, so almost nothing has completely cleared them. 🙁 But I have found a couple things that I’ve had some success with.

    1) Pepto Bismal: Sounds weird, but it has something similiar to salicylic acid in it. The drawback of this is that is will bring everything up in your pores-including spots that you didn’t know were there. When I use this, I only use it on my nose and even then, when I wash it off, my nose looks like its black polka dotted because every blackhead is showing.

    2) Queen Helene Mint Masque: This is a really cheap, good product you can buy at Walgreens for $4! This works pretty good for some people, and when my blackheads aren’t too deep, this mask helps get rid of the shallow blackheads.

    Hope that helps! :mrgreen
    3) Retinoids (Retin A, Tazorac, Retin A Micro, etc): Many people have claimed that retinoids ridded themselves of blackheads. I have tried every one and Tazorac and Retin A have done the most good, but both are very drying and make my face really red. They are prescription too, so they may cost a lot depending on your insurance plan.

    4) Relax. This may seem odd, but when I am more relaxed, my skin always does better, I’m not as oily, and consequently I don’t have as many blackheads. Its hard to be relaxed when your face isn’t too so good, but giving it a shot might help you. Relaxation techniques also help people’s skin.

  2. well, thank you for the welcome, and thank you for the advice.

i’ve never heard of using pepmo bismal.

do you just rub some on your nose and then rinse it off?
