Any people in the UK, I bought Now! magazine the other day (I was bored, ok!) and saw a recent pic of Cameron Diaz in it- her acne is pretty bad when you see her without makeup, she has it on her back too. I heard somewhere else too that she is a big fan of junk food. I wonder if she has tried modifying her diet; maybe like so many of us she has been told by derms that it won’t affect acne. I know not all of us have found it does, but I certainly do. *(See below) You would think that someone so high-profile would have tried everything to relieve it. It is good for her if it doesnt bother her and that she can be open about it- but the fact that she has missed film premieres due to breakouts shows it must be a big disruption in her life sometimes.
Anyway it just made me wonder how many people, including celebrities, never consider diet as they are told by the medical profession that it doesnt help acne. Maybe it hasnt worked for her but it frustrates me to think how many people may believe these so-called authorities on acne.
*Avoiding sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and cutting down a lot on dairy and processed and fried foods, plus taking Zinc Gluconate supplements has cleared me up. I have tried medications including Dianette and antibiotics, but my skin was not Accutane-grade acne. I am not always strict with what i eat as a few tiny bumps is a small price to pay for eating more conventionally sometimes. I enjoy eating healthy though -lots of salad-type veggies and fruit- as I feel better as well as having cleared my skin. I am also “vegetarian” anyway but occasionally eat fish.
Taking Zinc was essential to helping my skin though. All this may seem hard for some of you but we have to accept that our bodies are thousands of years behind and are not built to run healthily on dairy or refined sugar often, let alone a Big Mac and fries, chocolate, ice cream etc. Even though not everyone gets acne, other people are affected in other ways, not always visible- see “People with acne are healthier” post.
