GENERIC ACCUTANE (AMNESTEEM) DOES NOT WORK!!!

If any of you guys are trying the fairly new generic accutane called amnesteem and are seeing no improvements, demand to your doctor to switch to brand name Accutane. I went through a 5 month course of amnesteem with no improvement at all, so i stopped going to my regular dermatologist and went to a new one at the Falk Medical Building in Pittsburgh. These derm’s are some of the best you can see. They agreed and said the generic brand shouldnt even be on the market. So now I went through 5 months of Isotretinoin hell, all to start over and do it again. The Derm’s are planning to make a case against Bertek Pharmaceuticals the makers of generic accutane.

did you get that stuff checked by a lab, I don’t see why a company would sell a generic brand that has no potency.

PS : I’m sorry to say this but do you by any chance work for a company called ROCHE :lol

  2. haha no im an 18 year old male who has spent the last 4 months of isotretinoin therapy for absolutely nothing, and im a little pissed off.

  3. damn i was just thinking about how effective amnesteem is, but honestly maybe ur not seeing improvements for urself. for me, amnesteem works jsut as well as accutane. my lips are hella chapped, skin dry and acne subsiding. maybe its ur dosage. also u have not posted if rocheaccutane has yet to make a difference from amnesteem so…think about that.

  4. I just got Amnesteem b/c it’s a little cheaper.

This argument over its efficacy is on every acne message board. The last one I checked, a member posted the exact FDA requirements for a generic drug.

I can’t speak personally for the effectiveness of Amnesteem (as I just started it this week), but the FDA and its regulations are there for a reason. Precription meds aren’t dealt with in the same manner as nutritional supplements (which are unregulated and often are just sugar pills etc.). Anyone questioning the efficacy of Amnesteem should check out the FDA site, not message boards.

If this stuff doesn’t work for only like 10% of the people who take it (which is the current situation with Roche Accutane as well) then it’s not the formulation of the drug, it’s you…sorry!

    Good luck to all!

  5. My dermatologist will only prescribe Accutane because the generic hasn’t been around long enough to have a track record. Also, she said that there was an article in a medical journal recently that questions the effectiveness of the generic. According to her, the article suggested that the generic may have to be dosed differently than Accutane to have the same level of effectiveness. I don’t know if this is true since I didn’t personally read the article but I’m just passing on what my doctor told me. I have to pay a great deal for Accutane because my health insurance is terrible but I’m glad that I’m taking a drug that has a 20 year track record.
